For many NDIS participants, daily living requires more than routine assistance. Some individuals live with complex health conditions or behavioural challenges that demand specialised, advanced care. This is where High Intensity Daily Personal Activities (HIDPA) come in.

What Are High Intensity Daily Personal Activities?
High Intensity Daily Personal Activities (HIDPA) are supports for participants who need advanced clinical care or specialist training due to the risks involved in their daily health tasks.
These services fall under the Core Supports – Assistance with Daily Life category of your NDIS plan.
Unlike standard personal care, HIDPA requires skilled workers who can:
• Safely carry out complex medical procedures
• Monitor health conditions closely
• Respond promptly to emergencies or signs of deterioration
• Work in collaboration with doctors, allied health professionals, and families
Who Requires HIDPA Supports?
HIDPA supports are designed for NDIS participants with:
• Chronic health conditions (e.g., epilepsy, diabetes, respiratory conditions)
•Neurological injuries (e.g., spinal cord injuries, acquired brain injury)
•Severe physical disability requiring feeding, respiratory, or continence care

•Behavioural support needs that demand highly trained and resilient staff
•Medical risks requiring continuous monitoring and prompt intervention

Types of High Intensity Daily Personal Activities
At Advance Nursing, our trained staff can deliver the following HIDPA supports:
Complex Bowel Care
Management of bowel conditions requiring enemas, suppositories, or digital evacuation. Delivered by staff trained in infection control, monitoring, and emergency response.
Individual GrowthEnteral Feeding (Tube Feeding / PEG Feeding)
Safe administration of nutrition and fluids via gastrostomy or nasogastric tubes. Includes ongoing monitoring for aspiration risk, tube blockages, and hygiene.
Urinary Catheter Management
Catheter care and monitoring, including safe insertion (by nurses), maintenance, and infection prevention. Ensures participant comfort and dignity.
Tracheostomy Care
Specialised support for participants with a tracheostomy. This includes suctioning, tube changes, infection prevention, and monitoring for airway obstruction.
Subcutaneous Injections
Administration of prescribed medications (e.g., insulin for diabetes). Delivered by trained staff with precision and strict adherence to safety standards.
Complex Wound and Pressure Injury Care
Monitoring and dressing of chronic or complex wounds, including pressure injuries. Staff follow evidence-based clinical protocols to promote healing and prevent infection.
Severe Dysphagia Management
Support for participants with swallowing difficulties to prevent aspiration. This may involve feeding techniques, texture modifications, and coordination with speech pathologists.

Funding for High Intensity Daily Personal Activities is provided under Core Supports – Assistance with Daily Life.
To access this funding, participants will need supporting evidence, such as:
• Reports or letters from treating medical professionals
• Risk assessments outlining the need for skilled staff
• Care plans or health plans describing required high intensity tasks
