For many NDIS participants, achieving independence doesn’t mean doing everything alone it means getting the right support to live with dignity, comfort, and confidence. Assistance with Daily Personal Activities is designed to give you the support you need with essential daily tasks, whether at home or in the community.

What Are Daily Personal Activities?
Daily personal activities are the routine, everyday tasks that most people manage independently but can become challenging due to disability, health conditions, or ageing. The NDIS funds support in this area under Core Supports – Assistance with Daily Life.

Who Can Access These Supports?
You may benefit from Assistance with Daily Personal Activities if you:
• Live with physical or mobility limitations that impact bathing, dressing, or transfers.
• Have cognitive, intellectual, or psychosocial disabilities and need guidance or prompting.
• Require support due to sensory impairments such as blindness or deafness.
• Experience behavioural or mental health challenges that make daily tasks unsafe or overwhelming.
• Need two-person transfers or specialised assistance for safety.
Support is tailored to each participant’s NDIS goals—whether that’s maintaining independence, improving health and hygiene, or building skills to do more things on your own.
How Is It Funded?
Funding for Assistance with Daily Personal Activities is included in:
- Core Supports – Assistance with Daily Life (budget category).
To access this funding, you need to demonstrate in your NDIS plan that:
- • Your disability prevents you from completing certain daily tasks without support.
- • The support is reasonable and necessary for your health, wellbeing, and independence.
- • It directly helps you achieve your NDIS goals.
Supporting evidence may include:
- • Functional capacity assessments
- • Letters from GPs, specialists, or allied health professionals
- • Behaviour support or continence care plans
Funding can range from a few hours per week (for minimal support) to multiple hours daily if complex care is required.
